Castell-y-Gwynt is ideally situated for walking hills and moors and bird spotting. Red Kites are being seen more frequently as their population increases in the area.

The Forest Experience Rally School and Sweet Lamb Rallying & Off Roading centre are not far away, and The Mid-Wales Shooting Centre is one mile from the village of Trefeglwys.
